Welcome to the website of the Belgian embassy and its diplomatic network in South Africa.
Belgium, a small but hard working country of 10 million inhabitants at the heart of Europe and the much larger and more populous Republic of South Africa at the most Southern tip of the African continent find themselves in a strong and mature relationship. Their interaction is based on sound political relations, growing economic ties and streamlined cooperation programs. Moreover, South Africa has become home for thousands of my compatriots.
Major ports in both countries and complimentary economic outputs explain the strong bilateral trade lanes and mutual investments, constantly growing and ever responding to the changing opportunities and challenges in our globalised society. Equally important are our political consultations and our common commitment to stability, development and economic progress on the African continent and particularly in Central Africa.
Serving in South Africa is a privilege for any ambassador, because this country, in full political and economic transformation, is a pillar of democratic strength and economic progress, shaping the world of today and of tomorrow.
This is how we work together and how we experience our relationship
Enjoy this website with its short surveys of our activities and a wide range of practical information.
