...to the Permanent Delegation of Belgium to UNESCO

UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations which was created in 1945 in order to promote international cooperation in the field of education, science and culture. Communication was later added to the mandate of the organisation.
Within these five fields, UNESCO mainly works on standard setting (conventions and soft law), policy advice and monitoring of policies in member states.
Federal Belgium concentrates its activities at UNESCO on the protection of natural heritage in Central Africa. Furthermore, our communities and regions are particularly active at the organisation.
