Enforcement of the Belgian and OECD Anti-Bribery regulations

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

At the occasion of a forthcoming review by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) of the measures taken by Belgium to enforce the Anti-Bribery Convention, the Embassy of Belgium in Poland draws your attention on the necessity, in your business activities in Poland, to observe the Belgian and OECD following regulations and principles in view of combating corruption :

-          Belgium : Loi du 10 février 1999 relative à la répression de la corruption / Wet van 10 februari 1999 betreffende de bestraffing van corruptie

-          OECD :

·         Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions

·         Good Practice Guidance on Internal Controls, Ethics, and Compliance

Please, take the time to read these documents.

You are also very much encouraged to take the necessary measures to ensure that the behavior of your company and of its direction and employees stay conform to the Belgian law concerning the repression of corruption and to the OECD recommendations in view of combating bribery.  The enclosed “Good Practice Guidance on Internal Controls, Ethics, and Compliance”, will prove a good tool in this endeavour.

The Embassy of Belgium will strive to answer any question you might have and to support your efforts in this regard.

Bilateral visit in Poland of Minister Reynders

The Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier Reynders, made a bilateral visit to Poland, on 29 and 30 January. Besides a meeting with his counterpart, Radosław Sikorski, and with the Polish Secretary of State for European Affairs, Piotr Serafin, Minister Reynders had a discussion with the Belgian business world in Poland. He also gave a decoration of Officer in the Order of Leopold II to Mr. Patrick Carabin, Director of the hotel Sofitel Grand Sopot (picture here opposite : Minister Reynders, Mr. Carabin and Ambassador Delcorde).

50 years of residence of the Embassy of Belgium in Warsaw at the Mniszech Palace

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium has been located in the Mniszech Palace since 1962.  At the occasion of the 50th anniversary or its installation in this exceptional Palace, we have marked this occasion with an exhibition telling the history of the palace, of the events which took place in and around the palace and of the Belgian-Polish relations from the Middle-Ages until now.

Have a look at the text and image of the exhibition.
